Derrick Adams: View Master is the first mid-career survey of New York–based artist Derrick Adams, on view at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston from April 16 through September 7, 2026. Spanning twenty years of work across painting, sculpture, collage, performance, and video, the exhibition celebrates contemporary Black life and culture through Adams's distinct representational language—centering leisure, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. Organized by guest curator Dexter Wimberly and ICA assistant curator Tessa Bachi Haas, View Master offers a sweeping view of an artist who has transformed the iconography of everyday Black life into a practice of enduring cultural significance.
