Nile Jade is a self-taught painter whose practice reveals a distinctive sensibility shaped by her background in fashion design and her late turn to the visual arts. She began painting at the age of twenty-seven, working privately for more than a decade before sharing her work publicly at the encouragement of friends and early supporters.

Jade is best known for her singular technique of painting on wood with brushes and knives, producing a tactile surface with the appearance of copper-tooling. Her compositions often depict refined interior spaces inhabited by solitary female figures absorbed in moments of leisure. These works carry a quiet intimacy and atmosphere of serenity, reflecting both her meticulous process and her sensitivity to the textures of domestic life.

Though she originally painted for personal pleasure, Jade’s decision to exhibit at the age of thirty-eight introduced her unique vision to a wider audience. Her works remain marked by their elegance, subtle detail, and the balance of restraint and warmth in her portrayals of interior worlds.
