Geoffrey Dashwood is a British sculptor celebrated for his refined bronze and stone depictions of birds. Characterized by smooth, continuous surfaces and bold simplification, his sculptures distill avian forms to their essential curves and volumes, transforming wildlife art into contemporary abstraction. Enhanced with richly colored patinas, his works achieve both tactile elegance and sculptural monumentality.

Dashwood studied briefly at Southampton College of Art before leaving to work with the Forestry Commission in the New Forest, where his daily encounters with wildlife deeply informed his artistic vision. Initially working as an illustrator and painter, he turned to sculpture in the 1980s, beginning with detailed realist studies before developing the distinctive pared-down style for which he is internationally recognized.

His life-size and monumental works have been exhibited worldwide and are held in collections including the Royal Collection of Her Majesty The Queen (Sandringham, UK), the National Museum of Wildlife Art (Wyoming), the International Centre for Wildlife Art (Gloucestershire, UK), and the Gana Art Collection (Seoul, Korea). Major public commissions include monumental owls and other bird forms sited across the UK and abroad.

Dashwood’s sculptures, though grounded in his lifelong passion for birds, transcend wildlife art to stand as modern meditations on form, empathy, and the intimate relationship between artist and subject.
