Egle Jauncems is an artist whose practice explores the intersections of painting and textile art. Combining weaving and painting, she examines the historical and material relationships between these mediums while addressing broader questions of power and representation—particularly how men have traditionally been portrayed in painted portraiture. Her work also reflects a commitment to sustainability, often incorporating recycled or salvaged materials to prevent waste.

Jauncems studied Sinology at Vilnius University before relocating to Asia, where she spent four years immersed in the cultural landscape of the Far East. Returning to Europe, she earned a BA from Chelsea College of Arts (2013) and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2017). In 2015 she was awarded the David Hockney Art Foundation Scholarship.

Her recent exhibitions include Dausuva (Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, Vilnius, 2017), Cybernetic Meadow (Averard Hotel, London, 2016), Demimonde (Amberwood House, London, 2015), and Khobz (Marrakesh Biennial, 2014). Prior to her visual art career, Jauncems was active in Vilnius’s alternative music scene as a recording and performing artist.
