The Collection

Jedd Novatt is an American sculptor known for dynamic, non-representational compositions of interlocking geometric forms, primarily in welded steel and bronze. He studied literature and sculpture at Sarah Lawrence College before moving to France to continue his training at the Lacoste School of the Arts.

Novatt's signature "Chaos" series consists of open, cube-like structures stacked and interlocked so that they appear to teeter on the edge of collapse. Working without mathematical calculation but with an instinctive sense of geometry, Novatt explores how space, balance, and gravity are experienced differently by each viewer. His monumental sculptures have been installed in major public and institutional settings worldwide, including the courtyard of Lever House in New York and the grounds of the Guggenheim Bilbao.

Novatt had his first solo exhibition in 1993 at Tibor de Nagy Gallery, New York, and his work has since been exhibited extensively across the United States and Europe, including at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Butler Institute of American Art, and Sotheby's "Beyond Limits" exhibition at Chatsworth House, UK. He lives in Paris, France, and divides his time among studios in Normandy, New York, and the Basque region of Spain.
