J. Christopher is a visual artist working across oil painting and digital media, whose work channels his lived experience into narratives of resilience and advocacy. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Christopher studied at Howard University before settling in Los Angeles, where he is currently based.

Christopher's practice is rooted in the ethos of "Beauty Amongst the Thorns," inspired in part by his younger brother Evan, who lives with a chromosome 1 deletion. Rather than centering his brother's medical challenges, Christopher celebrates his remarkable abilities, using richly detailed portraiture — often incorporating oil, 24k gold leaf, and Belgian linen or birch panel — to tell the stories of individuals who are differently abled. His paintings explore mental health, albinism, vitiligo, monocular vision, and limb differences, portraying his subjects with a regality that transcends physical limitation.

Christopher's first solo presentation with UTA Artist Space, "Regal Resilience" (2023), included works such as Majesty, Heavy is the Head, and Isaiah's Courtier. In 2024, he presented "Beauty Amongst the Thorns" with Art Melanated, including works such as Gold Touch of Melanin, Guardian of the Blooms, and Through the Storm, I Prevail.
